環球時報(中国国営メディア)は、人民解放軍海軍の軍艦が「アジア太平洋の米軍基地と米国の同盟国の海岸線に行き、近接偵察活動を行い、航行の自由を宣言する」と呼びかけた。同社説は、「米国は近いうちにPLA(人民解放軍)が玄関先に現れるのを確実に目にすることになるだろう」と付け加えている。
